Wherever we go, we may spread the love of God – in the train, the park or when we go shopping. It is a privilege to meet people and to encounter them in a way they can see Jesus in us. Some weeks ago a mother was sitting in front of our favorite bakery with her baby. Hannah and I started talking to her about the baby and found out that her English was good. She was open, friendly and interested. Soon she asked us: “Are you Christians?” I was amazed about that question and asked her how she knew. “When I still lived in Osaka, I met a team from Australia and they were like you. They took me to church and invited me for a meal.” In a country of about 130 Million inhabitants, where people hardly know about Jesus, we meet this woman, who got in contact with a YWAM-team 10 years ago. Isn't it awesome how God pursues people? We realized that this appointment was no coincidence. She invited us to her place for the next day (this usually doesn't happen easily in Japan). We four girls had a great time with her, her neighbor and the little daughter of the neighbor. They let us try on Kimonos and we learned more about their culture and their way of living. After being in Osaka for three weeks we got in contact with them again. At our next visit we also met their calligraphy teacher with her little son. And we brought a YWAM Tokyo staff from El Salvador who was very interested in getting to know these ladies. So this little (typical Japanese) living room was packed, but this didn't keep us back from sharing with them for about three hours. It was special to us when the calligraphy teacher got her material and designed cards with Japanese characters as we wished: “Jesus loves you”, “God is love” “God is grace”. We wish that this message will also reach the hearts of these wonderful ladies. Who knows what God is going to do in their lives?! :-) We are excited to see them again before we leave soon. AuthorAnais The opposite of loneliness / das gegenteil von EinsamkeitAfter the next station we had no space for reading or takeing pictures.
Yesterday we went to visit the Hi-ba (high school born-againers). its the only organization in japan that is geared specifically towards high school students. we could share with them about YWAM, preform a skit for them, lead worship, and have fellowship together. we had a great time, we could talk with student who had come for the first time. we had a chance to pray together, and they loved to ask us questions and to practice their English. |
